Neutering
4 Good Reasons Why You Should Have Your Cat Neutered Now
1. A neutered cat is less likely to catch life threatening diseases such as Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and Feline Leukaemia Virus, which are transmitted through the cats saliva making fighting cats at high risk.

Neutered cats are less likely to wander or get into fights with other cats. They are therefore less likely to get bitten or injured - saving you vets bills!

2. An uncastrated male marks his territory with a strong smelling urine - spraying inside the house as well as around the garden.

Most cats killed on roads are uncastrated males.

Noisy, singing cats are likely to be uncastrated males.
3. From the age of five months a healthy female can have up to three litters each year with five or six kittens in each litter.

This can add up to one adult cat being responsible for over 20,000 descendants during its lifetime!!!

Please be a caring cat owner and get your cat neutered.
4. It is a common misconception that a cat should have a litter first: a litter does not make them anymore contented, nor will they live longer. On the contrary, mammary cancer is more common in cats who have had kittens. There is NO GOOD REASON to let a cat have one litter of kittens before spaying.

It costs far more to feed a pregnant cat and her kittens than to pay for a spaying operation.

Neutering Scheme
Cats Protection may be able to help with the cost of neutering your cat. You can qualify for support if you are one of the following:

A full-time student.
On a pension.
On a means-tested benefit.
On a low wage.

If your application is successful, you will be sent a voucher which must be given to your veterinary surgeon when your cat goes for its operation. Please note the current value of the vouchers is £20 for female cats and £15 for male cats - you will need to pay the remaining amount for the cost of the operation directly to the veterinary surgeon.
